We have established a fundraising campaign in aid of the Hidden Hearth Festival happening at Lisnavagh House & Grounds every October. The Festival is an important event and a key fundraiser in our Autumn calendar. It is a celebration of arts: music, visual art, poetry, topical discussions & debates, performances and crafts. There is an array of holistic workshops and classes providing opportunities to nourish mind, body and spirit with hands-on workshops, classes and immersive experiences that inspire new perspectives.
Our human health and wellbeing are a direct reflection of the condition of Nature, the environment, climate and biodiversity. The Hidden Hearth Festival highlights how to take creative and local action and explores ways of living in greater harmony with Nature, whether by learning about foraging locally for medicines and food, planting trees, or taking different kinds of action – both personally and collectively within communities.
Our goal is to raise €50,000 in the build up. This funding will be specifically for the following: -
Compost Loos (build)
Woodland permanent stage (build)
Solar powered generators (hire)
Zero waste management
Stretch tent for acoustic stage (purchase and reuse)
Large bell tent for kids yoga area (purchase and reuse)
Publicity to make event viable
Management of volunteers
If you are someone who has been inspired by Lisnavagh and would like to participate in a more active way in co-creating the festival we’d love to hear from you! or you can Donate here.
The purpose of the festival and the other events and activities that we host, is to support the restoration and development of the FarmYard and establish it as a rural, regenerative environmental, arts events & education resource centre in the heart of Co. Carlow.
To meet our goals, we have developed a 5-year strategy that sets out a programme of activities designed to establish the FarmYard at Lisnavagh as a vibrant community resource and an eco-tourism destination. Our aim is to secure the necessary funding to ensure the FarmYard at Lisnavagh has the capacity to achieve its objectives and to build our capacity over the next 3-5 years. We are a non-profit enterprise and all funds raised will go towards financing the renovation costs of restoring the FarmYard buildings, so that they can be used year-round, and the curation and implementation of our programmes and events.
The FarmYard at Lisnavagh was conceived as a resilient model farm of the future, where diversity of crops, nurture of the soil and respect for the many families that lived and worked on the farm were the main priorities. In the 1857 edition of the Irish Farmer’s Gazette, the farm and farmyard at Lisnavagh were hailed as a shining example of innovation, renowned for its ethos and building design, which demonstrated that aesthetics, beauty and quality of life were crucial for the wellbeing & sustainability of workers and animals.
In a nutshell, the Farmyard, Lisnavagh promotes programmes that feature History, Heritage, Culture, Community Biodiversity, Climate, & Environment, by hosting events that focus on co-creative art & environmental programmes and workshops.
Our long-term goal is to transform the FarmYard at Lisnavagh into a living lab; a community resource hub of innovation, resilience & sustainable living here in Co. Carlow. Using the creative arts, our programmes explore the inextricable links and interdependencies between the arts, agriculture, biodiversity, community, innovation, technology, nature, the environment, health & wellbeing and climate action.
Today, building on the legacy left by Captain Bunbury, Lisnavagh is now home to a 200-acre forest, 400 acres of grassland, crops and hedgerows and gardens where biodiversity flourishes. Recognising the multitude of modern-day crises that humanity faces on a global scale, Capt. Bunbury’s great-great-great grandson William & his wife Emily have been working for twenty years to re-establish the FarmYard at Lisnavagh as a model and sanctuary for sustainable living. People from all over the world and all walks of life enter into this environment and experience first-hand, the peace and tranquility of a pastoral landscape, and a quiet place to contemplate, to learn, rethink personal priorities and be inspired.
If you’re interested in becoming more involved and supporting the ongoing development of the FarmYard and our events, activities, renovations & training & education programmes, please visit our membership portal on our website for further information.
On behalf of the team at the FarmYard, Lisnavagh, we look forward to welcoming you to Lisnavagh at one of our upcoming events.
